Mr. Goldsmith is a tax professional with over a decade of experience in federal, state and local tax compliance, management and consultation.

Mr. Goldsmith’s currently owns and operates a Certified Public Accountant practice in Fort Myers, Florida. Prior to opening his own public accounting firm, he served for several years with the public accounting firm of Hughes, Snell & Co. in Fort Myers providing tax services to a full range of businesses. His experience also includes serving as the Tax Compliance Manager for Price Communications Wireless, where he was instrumental in substantially reducing tax liabilities and defending tax-related litigation. Prior to this, Mr. Goldsmith served as a multi-state tax analyst for General Electric Client Business Services, where he worked closely with Lockheed Martin Corporation to improve tax compliance in 23 states while reducing operational tax liabilities.

Mr. Goldsmith provides his clients extensive experience and value in the following areas:

  • Federal, State & Local tax compliance: Includes filing jurisdictional returns for federal and state income tax, as well as state and local transactional taxes/surcharges (ie sales tax, gross receipts tax, E911, Universal Service Fund, or other taxes).

  • Federal, State & Local tax audits: Includes management/coordination of tax audits to limit and minimize company exposure to potential tax liability assessments by federal, state or local auditors.

  • Property tax filings and assessment appeals: Includes analysis of proper classifications and minimum useful lives of reportable assets to minimize tax liabilities on property tax returns, and filing/coordinating assessment appeals in jurisdictions assessing assets in excess of fair value.

  • Internal audit of billing systems for proper tax collection procedures: Includes recommendations for system enhancements, developing reports to streamline compliance activities, and implementing tax table updates.

  • Litigation support: Includes coordination, research and preparation of supporting evidence in defense of tax-related litigation, such as jurisdictional and consumer class-action lawsuits over tax-related billing practices.

  • Training programs: Develop and present tax procedure training programs to staff in order to ensure proper collection and remittance of transactional taxes, or to properly document exempt sales.

Mr. Goldsmith is a Certified Public Accountant with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of South Florida.
